The Journal of Innovative Educational Research (JIER) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing scholarly work that explores innovation in educational theory, practice, and policy. The journal aims to foster critical dialogue and provide a global forum for high-impact educational research that addresses current challenges and proposes forward-thinking solutions. Journal of Innovative Educational Research (JIER) accepts scientific articles such as original research articles, short communications, reviews, and mini-reviews from anyone without discrimination, as long as the submitted articles meet scientific principles.

As a distinctive feature, the Journal of Innovative Educational Research prioritizes research articles conducted in Southeast Asian countries and those written by researchers from institutions in the region. Every volume consistently includes articles by authors from Southeast Asia. However, submissions from researchers outside this region are also highly welcome. Journal of Innovative Educational Research (JIER)  covers a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:

  1. Innovative Teaching & Learning Methods: Research on new approaches such as project-based learning, flipped classrooms, and collaborative methods.
  2. Curriculum & Reform: Studies on the development, implementation, and evaluation of new curricula and their impact.
  3. Leadership & Policy: Analysis of the role of leadership in educational innovation and the evaluation of relevant policies.
  4. Assessment, evaluation & Measurement: Innovations in assessment, evaluation tools and methods, including the use of data and technology.
  5. Teacher Education: Research on teacher training, professional development, and the role of teachers as innovators.
  6. Inclusive & Equitable Education: Efforts to create equitable learning environments for all students, including strategies for multicultural education and students with special needs.

The Journal of Innovative Educational Research provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles published in this journal are open access and free to read, as stated in the Budapest Open Access Initiative:

"By 'open access' to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be appropriately acknowledged and cited."

The editors accept well-prepared manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere, with the exception of certain sources such as preprints. Manuscript format and requirements are listed on the back cover page. Incoming manuscripts will be evaluated and edited to ensure uniformity of structure, terminology, and other writing procedures. Our selective reviewers will review all manuscripts using a double-blind method.

The journal was first published in 2025 using Open Journal System (OJS) 3.5. The Journal of Innovative Educational Research publishes approximately 15 articles across 2 issues annually. Authors retain the copyright to their articles if published in this journal. They also retain the publishing rights to the articles without any restrictions.
